New Delhi: A total of around 700 schoolchildren from different parts of the country will be showcasing a variety of cultural items in this year`s Republic Day Parade.
Among them around 550 students are from Delhi.
Two schools from the Directorate of Education, Delhi Government, one school from Kendriya Vidyalay Sangathan and one item from Eastern Zone Cultural Centre, Kolkata are presenting the colourful dances.
The Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre, Kolkata this year features Purulia Chhau. The Chhau Dance of Purulia district is one of the most vibrant and colourful art forms.
Emerging from martial practice, the Purulia Chhau is a vigorous form of dance drama that draws its themes from the two great Indian epics, The Ramayana and the Mahabharata.
