Kolkata: CPI(M) politburo member Sitaram
Yechuri on Sunday said Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee continued to be the
Chief Minister of West Bengal and member of the party`s
politburo and there was no agenda in the party to replace him.

"There is no such thinking. There is nothing like this on
the agenda. Hills (in Darjeeling) are also part of West
Bengal. He is the chief minister and he can go to any part of
the state," Yechuri told reporters when asked if there was a
move to replace Bhattacherjee and if he was becoming aloof as
he spent so many days in the hills.

Earlier, a rumour was fuelled after a newspaper report
said that Bhattacharjee had resigned as Chief Minister.

Asked why Bhattacherjee did not attend CPI(M) politburo
meeting in Delhi and if he was avoiding the politburo,
Yechuri, who was on way to Guwahati, said at the Kolkata
airport, "He was sick and that was why he could not come. It
is as simple as that. If you want to make a news out of it,
you can interpret in your own way."

The Marxist leader said Bhattacharjee is a member of the
politiburo and also an important member of the party apart
from being the Chief Minister of the state.

Bhattacharjee, whose two-day visit to north Bengal was
extended due to ill-health, yesterday returned to the city and
said he was `fine`.
