New Delhi: The Overseas Indian Affairs
Ministry has decided not to issue any emigration clearance to
anybody seeking employment in Libya following complaints of
non-payment of salary to Indians working in various companies
in the African country.

Protector General of Emigrants, which processes
emigration applications, will not issue any clearance to
Libya, a statement issued by the Ministry said.

The Ministry said the decision was also taken following
reports that Libyan companies have put non-conforming contract
conditions for Indian workers.

There will be no further emigration clearance granted to
any worker, including nurses, for employment in Libya until
further orders, it said.

However, emigration applications filed upto June 30 and
attested by the Indian Embassy in Tripoli will be
considered for clearance, it added.
