Washington: White House sources have said that US President Barack Obama, who is due to visit India next month, will touch down in the country on the night of Diwali.

Sources said Obama`s visit to India has been advanced by two days, and the President will land in India on the night of November 5, most likely in Mumbai first.

During his Mumbai tour, Obama will attend a US-India Business and Entrepreneurship Summit and pay respects to the 26/11 attacks victims.

Obama will then head to the capital, but not before making a short halt in Amritsar. Indian government sources say Obama will most likely address a joint session of Parliament on November 8. He will then head to Indonesia, the second leg of his four-nation tour.

So far, only five American Presidents have visited India, including Bush, Clinton, Carter, Nixon and Eisenhower.
