President Pranab Mukherjee Saturday extended greetings to the government and people of Indonesia on the eve of their national day.

New Delhi: President Pranab Mukherjee Saturday extended greetings to the government and people of Indonesia on the eve of their national day.

Indonesia celebrates its national day Aug 17.

In a message to Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, the president said: "On behalf of the government and the people of India and on my own behalf, I have the pleasure to extend warm greetings and felicitations to you and to the government and friendly people of Indonesia on your national day."

"I take this opportunity to share my satisfaction at the growing strategic partnership between our two countries and our close cooperation on strategic, defence and security, economic, cultural and people-to-people exchanges and regional issues," Mukherjee added.

He also said that he was confident that the two democratic and multi-religious societies will continue to strengthen the bilateral friendship and cooperation in areas of common interest.

"I wish the friendly people of Indonesia a happy celebration and peace and prosperity in the coming years," he said.
