The Rajya Sabha was adjourned for the day on Thursday after repeated disruptions over Telangana and attacks by the Sri Lanka Navy on Tamil Nadu fishermen.

New Delhi: The Rajya Sabha was adjourned for the day on Thursday after repeated disruptions over Telangana and attacks by the Sri Lanka Navy on Tamil Nadu fishermen.

The first disruption took place after the house met at 11, leading to an adjournment until noon.
As the disturbances continued later too, the upper house was adjourned till 2 p.m. and then for the day.

Congress member KVP Ramachandra Rao and TDP’s YS Chowdhary and C.M. Ramesh stood in front of the chairman`s podium holding placards.
Rao`s placard demanded a "United Andhra Pradesh" while TDP posters read: "Don`t divide Telugu people!"

But TDP’s Gundu Sudha Rani and some Congress leaders flashed a placard demanding a Telangana state.

AIADMK and DMK members were also massed near the chairman and raised the issue of Tamil fishermen.
