Sadhvi Pragya refuses treatment in civil hospital

Pragya, who was shifted to the hospital last evening
following weakness, has said no to treatment and is also not
taking food, resulting in deteriorating health, Nashik
Civil hospital`s civil surgeon, R S Shinge told PTI.

Talking to reporters here yesterday, the Sadhvi said
unless Inspector General of Police (prison) of the Nashik Road
Central Jail and a local court judge met her personally, she
will not accept any medical treatment or food.

She alleged that she was being abused by Jail
Superintendent Swati Sathe in the prison.

Pragya, who was brought here for a medical check-up on
Saturday, had told reporters then that she was being harassed
mentally and physically in the jail.

Pragya said she had stopped consuming solid food in
protest and was on a liquid diet.

Meanwhile, the Sarkarwada police station on a
complaint by Nashik Road Central Jail Authorities has
registered a case of attempt to suicide against Pragya.

The Sadhvi was earlier being treated in the city-based
Ayurveda Seva Sangh hospital for spondylitis, spinal and
backache. She was shifted to the Nashik Road Central Jail by
authorities on March 16 following a life threat, police said.
