Sangma not fielded by Tribal Forum: Union Minister Pala

Vincent H Pala dismissed Presidential aspirant P A Sangma’s claim of being a candidate put up by the Tribal Forum.

Shillong: Union Minister of State for Water Resources and Congress MP from Meghalaya Vincent H Pala today dismissed Presidential aspirant P A Sangma’s claim of being a candidate put up by the Tribal Forum.

?I am a tribal and also a Christian and an executive member of the Forum. I do not remember of having any discussion about him on this issue, I do not know what tribal forum he is talking about?? the Minister who is a tribal and a Christian said dismissing claims made by the former Lok Sabha and MLA from Tura (Also in Meghalaya).

The Minister said that the election to the post should be on party line.
Out of 543 members, Congress has more than 200, Pala said adding that division is also there among the NDA and its allies.

In an apparent dig at the Trinamool Congress, Pala said Congress has always been ?abused? but when it comes to governance everyone wants to be with the Congress.
Meanwhile, the UDP and the HSPDP, allies of the ruling Congress have pledged their support in principle to P A Sangma. The Arunachal Congress, AGP (Assam) and the MNF (Manipur) in the region have so far come out in support of Sangma.

Sangma kick starts his campaign from his home constituency, Tura, in West Garo Hills and prayer meetings have been scheduled all over the state by the unit of the NCP and his supporters.
