Shimla: While Sri Lankan President Mahinda
Rajapaksa remained confined to Hotel Wildflower Hall at
Chharabra, where he is staying, his wife Shiranthi Rajapaksa
enjoyed stroll and some shopping on the famous Mall Road with
her aides.

"It is nice and homely to be in this town", she told
reporters.

"It is my first visit to Shimla and of course
memorable one", Shiranthi, who spent more than two hours on
the Mall road said after picking up some woollens and half-a-
dozen Kullu Shawls from Himachal Emporium.

She also purchased two long ladies Pullovers from a
private show room and watched the heritage buildings
constructed by Britishers when Shimla was the summer capital,
with curiosity.

"Look at the Landmark", she told one of her aides
accompanying her while pointing towards the Gaiety Theatre,
admiring the imperial structures.

Heavy security arrangements were made for her
impromptu visit to the busy Mall road.

Later, Himachal Pradesh Governor Urmilla Singh hosted
dinner in honour of the visiting Sri Lankan President and his
wife at Raj Bhawan. Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal was also
present during the Dinner.
