Pithoragarh: Communication link between Taklakot camp in China and Gunji camp in India will be opened during the Kailash Mansarowar yatra, an ITBP officer said on Thursday.
"The communication link, meant for informing locations of pilgrims on their Tibetan sojourn, will be available only for one hour at evening during yatra period," Commandant of 7th battalion of ITBP Kedar Singh Rawat, who is in-charge of yatra beyond Gunji camp said here.
The first batch of 56 Kailash Mansarowar pilgrims reached Kathgodam camp in Kumaon region in Uttarakhand from New Delhi today, Rawat said.
"The first batch of pilgrims will cross into Tibet from 16,500 feet high Lopulekh pass on June 20 this year," D K Sharma, nodal officer for the yatra at Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam, said.
"After staying tonight at Almora, the pilgrims of first batch will reach Dharchula base camp on June 13 and from next day they will begin track route journey after reaching?first track route camp at Sirkha on June 14," Sharma said.
The yatra will be concluded?on September 10 as three days have been reduced from each batch?from this year.
"We have reduced two days duration each batch?this year to facilitate 18 batches of pilgrims, against 16 batches last year," Sharma said, adding pilgrim`s batches will be briefed at ITBP camp Mirthi on? possible infection of high- altitude diseases and on the precautions.
According to KMVN sources, the communication system has been provided at all camps, including all track route camps as the DSPT sets of wireless phones have been provided by nodal agency KMVN at every camp.
