Three Indians killed in road mishap in Nepal

Three Indian nationals were among four people who were killed when a passenger bus veered off a road and plunged on the banks of a river in central Nepal Friday.

Kathmandu: Three Indian nationals were among four people who were killed when a passenger bus veered off a road and plunged on the banks of a river in central Nepal Friday.

Two men and a woman from India were killed along with a Nepalese national while 34 others were injured in the accident that happened at Trishuli River in Dhading district, 70 km west of Kathmandu, early this morning, police said.

Two of the deceased Indian nationals were identified as Mukhiya Thakur of Motihari and Urmila Devi Sing of Baishali, in Bihar. The other Indian man who died in the mishap is yet to be identified.
The bus driver was the fourth person who died in the accident.
Those who sustained injuries in the mishap are undergoing medical treatment at a hospital, police said.

According to police, the ill-fated bus was heading towards Kathmandu from Birgunj, near Raxaul, India before it met with the fatal accident in pre-dawn darkness.

In a separate accident, a jeep carrying a wedding party fell off a cliff in Udaypur district of eastern Nepal this morning, killing a 14-year-old girl and injuring 10 others.

Nisha Baniya was killed when a Bolero jeep skidded off the road and fell off a cliff, police said.

There were 22 people aboard the vehicle.

Several people who were travelling on the roof of the vehicle jumped off it to save their lives.
