Two held in Bangalore blasts case

A suspected LeT militant and another person have been arrested from Rajasthan and Kerala for their alleged involvement in the 2008 Bangalore bomb blasts.

Bangalore/Kasargod: A suspected LeT militant
and another person have been arrested from Rajasthan and
Kerala for their alleged involvement in the 2008 Bangalore
bomb blasts.

The two had played an active role in the blasts, but
right now we cannot state what exactly was the nature of their
roles. This will be more clear after a detailed investigation,
police sources in Bangalore said on Saturday.

One of the accused has been identified as Umar Farooq,
who was arrested from Ajmer, and the other as Ibrahim Moulavi,
a cleric from Kasargod, they said.

Moulavi (48), a suspected LeT militant, was arrested by
Karnataka`s Anti-Terrorist Squad last night at Badiyadukka
in the district, police in Kasargod district of Kerala said.

"We have been trying to track both of them for the last
two months. We have been working on the leads for long," the
sources at Bangalore said, adding chargesheet has already been
filed against the duo.

Two different teams had been deployed to arrest the
accused in the blasts, they said, adding they would be brought
to Bangalore shortly.

The serial blasts in July 2008 had left one killed and 20
injured.

Hailing from Vellimunda of Wayanad district of Kerala,
Ibrahim had been residing at Badiyadukka for the last
one-and-a-half years, police at Kasargod said.

He was also allegedly involved in the Ernakulam
Collectorate bomb blast in July last year and also in the
recruitment of youths for militant activities in Kashmir,
police said. None was injured in the Collectorate bomb blast
that was triggered by an improvised explosive device.

The ATS has taken Ibrahim Moulavi to Bangalore, police
said.

On August 17, Karnataka police had arrested Peoples
Democratic Party leader (PDP) leader Abdul Naseer Madani, an
accused in the Bangalore blasts, from Kollam in Kerala.
