The body of the deceased soldier reached at Jammu Airport at around 7 pm and from there it was taken to his native place in Kathua by road, SSP Jammu, Atul Goel, said.

The 45-year-old ITBP officer was among 20 personnel and crew killed in a helicopter crash during rescue mission in Uttarakhand on Tuesday.

Singh is survived by his wife Renu, two daughters and a son.

Singh along with five other ITBP policemen and nine National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) was on board Russian-made Mi-17V5 helicopter of the Indian Air Force, which crashed in a narrow valley in the flood-ravaged hill state.
