UPA-II’s Rs 100 crore ads to justify FDI, diesel price hike Zeenews Bureau

New Delhi: In a bid to create awareness among people of the country about economic reforms, UPA-II has sanctioned advertisements worth Rs 100 crore for electronic and print media.

The Central government has been at the receiving end of political parties and ‘aam aadmi’ over hike in diesel price and FDI in multi brand retail.

The latest initiative is a desperate attempt to make people aware of why the Manmohan Singh-led government had to take such crucial and hard decisions on the economic front. Also it would help the UPA-II to take on the opposing political parties, who have recently been very critical of the policies.

Reports suggest that the government has created two sets of advertisements, which would target rural and urban areas both.

In cities, the advertisements would focus on the positive points of FDI in retail and inform people why government had to hike diesel prices. People living in rural areas and smaller cities will be apprised of developmental programmes initiated by the government.

On to this, what I could gather is that of the proverb, ``kattile maram, thevare aana, vliyeda vali.`` ie. tree of forest, elephant of Lord Siva, pull ye` pull. This is the atitude of all polititians irrespective of colour or sign of flag. They speak of reforms towards development of mass. but actually they are looting mass for development their own. the hike in price is due to a previous unwanted exhobitant exessive hike in the salary and funds of MLAs and MPs and adminstratives towards whichhike in all the polipical parties no protest, but welcommed and appraised. Now all these have hard impacts to the common man. and to add to this are the advertisment expenses. If yousay this, then youwill be to be outcased. As I have no way to quit tis Inda, i have nothing to say but shout `JAI HO` ,JAI SONIA, JAI MANMOHAN.

FDI, Diesel Hike and LPG subsidy are affecting the common man. Now all of us are directed towards price increase. This is a move by UPA to change attention of public from Coal Scam/Scams.

This govt is really confused- spending 100 crores of public money is not a wise step to convince people of the economic reforms recently announced. Does a common man/farmer/small vendor/village people understand what fiscal deficitis, what is GDP, what is walmart etc. Better ask your ministers and MPs to go to their respective constituencies and try to speak to people face to face and answer their queries. Hope you will get the answer and also the capabilities of ministers and MPs. Send Mr Sharad Pawar to villages and let him speak to farmers ( beware of slapping), send out Digvijay,Salman Ji, P.Chidambaram and specially Mr Rahul Gandhi to face people personally and you will understand why this Govt has lost the trust of people of India.

Aam Admi - India
I am aam admin, a common man from India. I die everyday with these govt deeds and policy. I am a proud Indian and love my country. Why these politicians are so ruthless and heartless. If they were really so worried about the Indian economy and about the Indian people, they could have brought back the black money from the swiss bank. But why would they do that, as their own money is stocked there. When the whole world economy is falling this politician money is multiplied twice every year. We need more people like anna and kejriwal in politics.

Spend this 100 crores on building schools, family planning and building free toilets in villages. That would have more impact on the people than reading ads which have no meaning.

Just want to wast money for nothing it is batter to reduce Govt expenses then spending on Advertising. Who going to belive ? Can not able to control corruption only want to spend money for nothing and hiking price of fule and cap on LPG and advertising in favour of FDI. If Govt realy thinking for commanman then why not cut salaries of ministers and employees this also kind of reform why not recover corruption money back. It is only easy to cheat and loot commanman because commanman have no power.

Good move. Today you need to tell the people about your achievements and actions. Else oppositions would keep taking pot-shots.
