US, France, UK condole Reddy`s death

The US, France and United Kingdom on Thursday condoled the death of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YSR Reddy and others in yesterday`s helicopter crash.

Paying tributes to Reddy, US Ambassador Timothy J Roemer said "the Chief Minister was a strong supporter of the US-India friendship and our bilateral partnership, visible in the strong economic and family ties between the people of Andhra Pradesh and the United States."

In a statement here, Roemer offered condolences on behalf of the US government to Reddy`s family as well as to the families of others who died along with him.

Besides the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, his Special Secretary P Subramanyam, Chief Security Officer A S C Wesley, pilot Group Captain S K Bhatia and co-pilot M S Reddy were killed in the crash.

French Ambassador to India Jerome Bonnafont said he learned with great sorrow of the tragic demise of Reddy and offered his deepest and most sincere condolences to his family, Andhra Pradesh and India.

"A highly respected statesman, Dr. Reddy had constantly worked towards enriching the historical relationship between France and Andhra Pradesh with a view to enhancing his state`s potential for development," he said.
