Washington: "Resolve and resilience is more powerful than any terrorist guns and bombs," US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said on Friday in a message to India, as
the country prepares to remember those who fell to terrorist bullets two years ago in 2008 in Mumbai.
The United States stands "in solidarity" with India, Clinton said "to honour those who lost their lives," she said, recalling the horrific attack which killed more than 166
people.
"As the people of the US gather with families to celebrate thanksgiving, we pause to remember the horrific attack on innocent men, women and children that occurred in
Mumbai two years ago," the US Secretary of State said in a statement.
"Now, as then, the American people stand in solidarity with the people of India an honour those who lost their lives."
In an extraordinary act of solidarity, President Barack Obama during his recent visit to India, stayed at Taj Mahal Palace hotel at Mumbai, which was one of the main targets of assault by 10 Kalashnikov wielding LeT militants.
He also met survivors and next of kin of victims to hail their courage and pledged to stand with India to fight terror.
In a message Clinton referred to Obama`s visit saying "President Obama`s recent visit to India underscored our nations shared belief in liberty, democracy and mutual respect
for all people."
"As the people of Mumbai gather in temples, mosques, churches, gurudwaras and synagogues to honour those who perish on November 26, 2008, they send a message of resolve, resilience and mutual respect that is far louder and more powerful then any terrorist guns and bombs," Clinton said.
