Vayalar Ravi to visit Nigeria

Overseas Indian Affairs Minister Vayalar Ravi will arrive in Nigeria tomorrow on his three-day maiden visit to the African country.

Vayalar Ravi will arrive in Nigeria tomorrow on his three-day
maiden visit to the African country.

Arrangements have been concluded to host the Minister
who will meet the Indian community in Nigeria which constitute
a vast number of professionals and entrepreneurs in the West
African country.

Mahesh Sachdev, Indian High Commissioner to Nigeria,
said that the Minister will have enough time to interact
with Indians living in Nigeria as well as those in
neighbouring Benin Republic and Cameroun during the three-day
working visit.

"These visits underline the importance both sides
attach to India-Nigeria ties and their improvement. During his
visit, Ravi will interface with various Indian social and
cultural institutions in Lagos," Sachdev said.

Ravi would be the third minister to travel to Nigeria
this year.

Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma and
Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Murli Deora had visited the
country in January.

In the same vein, India played host to three Nigerian
dignitaries; Deputy Senate president Ike Ekweremadu, Minister
of Labour and Productivity Prince Adetokunbo Kayode and
Minister of Information and Communication Professor Dora
Akunyili.
