Whereabouts of Australian paedophile not known

The whereabouts of an Australian, who is accused of sexually abusing children and failed to turn up in a court last month, are not known, Visakhapatnam police said on Thursday.

Hyderabad: The whereabouts of an Australian, who is accused of sexually abusing children and failed to turn up in a court last month, are not known, Visakhapatnam police said on Thursday.

The Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate in Visakhapatnam adjourned the case to March 15 after Allen, an alleged Paedophile accused in a case of sexually assaulting boys at an orphanage in Andhra Pradesh, failed to turn up.

"Paul was supposed to appear in the court at
Visakhapatnam on December 23. But he did not turn up in the
court," a senior police official told a news agency.

The issue surrounding Paul suddenly surfaced after
reports in the media that he jumped bail and was allegedly
absconding.

Paul was arrested in 2001 in connection with sexually
assaulting children of an orphanage run by Mary Ellen Berger
Foundation at Visakhapatnam, the official said.

Later, Paul, who worked in another orphanage also run
by the same foundation in Puri, was arrested on November 12,
2008 in Orissa after a complaint alleged that he had sexually
abused several boys there.

The Australian volunteer, who was in judicial remand
in the case, was granted bail by an Orissa court on March 5
last year.
