New Delhi: Buoyed over the victory of Raj
Babbar from Firozabad Lok Sabha seat in Uttar Pradesh,
Congress on Tuesday said it would contest the 2012 Assembly
elections in the state alone and form a government on its own
there.

"There is no question of any alliance in the 2012
Assembly elections in UP. We will definitely contest alone on
all the 402 assembly seats in the state in the Assembly
election in 2012," AICC General Secretary in charge for UP
Digvijay Singh told reporters here.

He also described the result as a trend against the
dynastic politics of Samajwadi Party in the state.

"There is a trend against dynastic politics as Firozabad
shows... There is a limit to dynasticism. The fact that
someone from Mulayam Singh Yadav`s family has been defeated
there shows this and the achievement of Congress should not be
undermined," Singh said

He was responding to queries on whether the party`s
victory shows people are against the dynastic politics of the
SP in the state.

Singh said the next elections will be between Congress
and BSP in UP as the mass base of BJP and SP is gradually
declining.

"BJP does not figure anywhere. SP is on decline. Hence
2012 elections will be fought between Congress and BSP. This
is a beginning and we will form next government in Uttar
Pradesh," he said.
