Arunachal asks Centre to enhance target for PMEGP

Arunachal Pradesh has pleaded Centre to enhance the targets for the state under Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme for the current year.

Centre to enhance the targets for the state under Prime
Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) for the
current year.

State Industries, Handloom, Textile and Handicrafts
Minister Tapang Taloh who called on Union Minister for Micro,
Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Virbhadhra Singh at New
Delhi yesterday urged him for early release of the margin
money against the scheme stating that the allotment was
inadequate to meet the demand of the youths, official sources
informed in Itanagar on Tuesday.

The ongoing works of Entrepreneurship Development
Institute (EDI) at Jote in Papum Pare district and Integrated
Infrastructure Development Centre (IIDC) at Bame (Basar) in
West Siang district were also discussed during the meeting,
sources informed.

Taloh urged Singh to see to it that instalments of the
sanctioned amount are released on time.
Since inception only one Community Development Project
(CDP) cluster was sanctioned for the entire state, whereas
eight proposals for different clusters like Cane and Bamboo,
IT, Food Processing, Steel Fabrication, Wood Curving to be
located in various parts of Arunachal Pradesh submitted to the
Ministry which are yet to be considered, Taloh pointed out.

Highlighting the poor state of affairs of district
industries centre (DIC) in the state, he said that the DICs
were created in 1977-78 under Centrally sponsored schemes but
subsequently transferred to the state plan.
The state government could not extend required physical
and financial support due to fund paucity, he said.
