Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Governor J J Singh and Chief Minister Nabam Tuki on Wednesday greeted the people of the state on the occasion of Raksha bandhan.
The governor while conveying his greetings and wishes to people expressed hope that the occasion would continue to spread universal love and peace in the world.
Singh appealed to the people to further strengthen mutual love and understanding among people. He also appealed for Raksha? or protection of the prized flora and fauna of the State.
Chief Minister Tuki in his greetings said that the chaste bond of love between a brother and a sister is one of the deepest and noblest of human emotions.
"The thread, which pulsates with sisterly love and sublime sentiments, is rightly called the ‘Rakhi’ as it means ‘a bond of protection’, and Raksha Bandhan signifies that the strong must protect the weak from all that’s evil, said Tuki in a message from New Delhi.
He expressed hope that this festival that has a universal message, above all religious sentiments, would send a message of peace, harmony and brotherhood amongst all members of communities.
