Illegal migration can be solved only if Cong is removed: Modi

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday claimed the problem of illegal migration from Bangladesh can be solved only if Congress is removed from power in Assam.

Golakganj (Assam): Gujarat Chief Minister
Narendra Modi on Thursday claimed the problem of illegal migration
from Bangladesh can be solved only if Congress is removed from
power in Assam.
``The Congress cannot save you from Bangladeshis and
you must decide whether you want to continue bearing with the
harassment of Bangladeshis or vote for a change``, Modi said
while addressing three election rallies at Golokgunj in Dhubri
district, Pathacharkuchi in Barpeta district and Hajo in
Kamrup (Rural) district.

Modi alleged that the Assam government has proved to
be useless in dealing with the influx issue and they instead
accorded red carpet welcome to illegal migrants from the
neighbouring country.
``You live on the Bangladesh border and I have come
from Pakistan border to meet you but our situation is a study
in contrast. You are constantly harassed by Bangladeshis but
on the other hand, it is Pakistan that feels bothered about
Gujarat``, he said.

The Congress has committed two major sins of
encouraging influx of immigrants and also exporting cattle to
Bangladesh illegally which was faced by ``us in Gujarat also
but we went up to the Supreme Court and won our case banning
cow slaughter``, he said.

``I have come here to seek your votes for BJP to free
Assam from Bangladeshis and bring in development in the state
which is mired in all-round backwardness``, he said.

The Congress is claiming that it has brought all-round
development in the state and if that was the case, then ``why
are youths from Assam leaving to work in Gujarat. Nobody wants
to leave their home, family and friends to work in a far-off
but they are compelled to go as there is no employment
opportunities in Assam``, he added.
