Diphu: Nine labourers were kidnapped from a construction site by suspected Karbi Peoples`
Liberation Tigers (KPLT) militants in Assam`s Karbi Anglong district, police said here Friday.
A group of about four heavily armed militants stormed
an under construction hospital building at Rongbong Ghat under
Santipur police station last night where there were about 27
labourers.
The sources said they militants assaulted the
labourers and took away nine of them.
District Superintendent of Police B B Chetry has
rushed to the spot and a search operation has been launched to
trace the labourers.
Security throughout the district has been tightened
following the kidnapping.
