Shillong: With the list of his detractors increasing, pressure is mounting on Meghalaya Chief Minister D D Lapang to effect a cabinet re-shuffle to pacify the disgruntled legislators.

Five more Congress MLAs, Nehlang Lyngdoh, A L Hek, Rowell Lyngdoh, S W Rymbai and Founder Cajee, today rushed to New Delhi, swelling the anti-Lapang group camping in the national capital.

The AICC has, in the meanwhile, summoned Pradesh Congress chief Friday Lyngdoh and working president Deborah Marak to discuss the situation arising out of the revolt.

"Both the leaders are meeting top AICC leaders tomorrow morning," said a party source.

At least 16 legislators of the total 28 are also demanding a change in leadership in the state, besides accommodation of senior MLAs in the ministry by dropping the independents and the lone MLA from Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM).

From the pro-Lapang faction, senior ministers Mukul Sangma, Prestone Tyngsong and Ampareen Lyngdoh are also camping in Delhi in a bid to play buffer.

The rebel group yesterday raised their demands before the AICC secretary-in-charge Meghalaya Luizinho Falerio, but were refused appointment by AICC president Sonia Gandhi's political secretary Ahmed Patel, sources said.
