Pressure mounts on Lapang for cabinet reshuffle

disgruntled legislators.

Five more Congress MLAs, Nehlang Lyngdoh, A L Hek,
Rowell Lyngdoh, S W Rymbai and Founder Cajee, today rushed to
New Delhi, swelling the anti-Lapang group camping in the
national capital.

The AICC has, in the meanwhile, summoned Pradesh
Congress chief Friday Lyngdoh and working president Deborah
Marak to discuss the situation arising out of the revolt.

"Both the leaders are meeting top AICC leaders
tomorrow morning," said a party source.

At least 16 legislators of the total 28 are also
demanding a change in leadership in the state, besides
accommodation of senior MLAs in the ministry by dropping the
independents and the lone MLA from Khun Hynniewtrep National
Awakening Movement (KHNAM).

From the pro-Lapang faction, senior ministers Mukul
Sangma, Prestone Tyngsong and Ampareen Lyngdoh are also
camping in Delhi in a bid to play buffer.

The rebel group yesterday raised their demands before
the AICC secretary-in-charge Meghalaya Luizinho Falerio, but
were refused appointment by AICC president Sonia Gandhi`s
political secretary Ahmed Patel, sources said.
