Gangtok: Sikkim Chief Minister Pawan Chamling on Sunday appealed to the Centre to give due consideration to locals for proper representation in the proposed Indian Judicial Service.

Chamling said there was no need for setting up Fast Track Courts/Morning-Evening courts in the state as only?total 1,200?cases were pending in?subordinate courts including the District and Session Courts.

He thanked the Union government for keeping Sikkim and other north east states out of purview of the operations of Gram Nyaylayas Act 2008 and requested the Law Commission to make fair assessment of requirement of number of courts in each state on actual requirement based on fresh filing and pendency of court cases in each state.
