Agartala: The Left Front government in Tripura on Sunday donated Rs 25 lakh for the victims of the Sikkim earthquake.

"Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar has sent a letter along with a cheque of Rs 25 lakh to Sikkim Chief Minister Pawan Kumar Chamling," said an official statement.

"The quake has caused irreparable loss of life and property and our feeling of grief and concern for the affected people can hardly be expressed by words," Sarkar said in the letter.

The 6.8-magnitude earthquake, which Sept 18 hit India, Nepal, Bangladesh and Tibet has killed at least 80 people in Sikkim alone and left more than 300 injured.
