Aizawl: A small private aircraft, belonging to North East Shuttle Service (NESS), Wednesday overshot the table-top runway at Lengpui airport in Mizoram injuring all nine passengers.

A Cessna Caravan nine-seater aircraft, coming from Imphal, overshot the runway shortly before noon due to strong wind and low visibility, Aizawl's Superintendent of Police Lalbiakthanga Khiangte told reporters.

The airport is located 15 km north of here.

"The US-made plane, after overshooting the runway, tilted near a brook after hitting the instrumental landing system," he said. "No major damage took place."

The injured, including a minor, were taken to a nearby hospital and their condition was stated to be stable.

The Kolkata based NESS uses the US-made Cessna Caravan-208B "air taxi". It has operated between Lengpui and Kolkata and the cities of northeastern states including Agartala, Guwahati, Imphal and Silchar since 2008.
