Aizawl: A small private aircraft, belonging to North East Shuttle Service (NESS), Wednesday overshot the table-top runway at Lengpui airport in Mizoram injuring all nine passengers.
A Cessna Caravan nine-seater aircraft, coming from Imphal, overshot the runway shortly before noon due to strong wind and low visibility, Aizawl`s Superintendent of Police Lalbiakthanga Khiangte told reporters.
The airport is located 15 km north of here.
"The US-made plane, after overshooting the runway, tilted near a brook after hitting the instrumental landing system," he said. "No major damage took place."
The injured, including a minor, were taken to a nearby hospital and their condition was stated to be stable.
The Kolkata based NESS uses the US-made Cessna Caravan-208B "air taxi". It has operated between Lengpui and Kolkata and the cities of northeastern states including Agartala, Guwahati, Imphal and Silchar since 2008.
