Tripura CM hopeful of Third Front coming to power

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar has expressed hope that the Third Front would come to power after the next year`s Lok Sabha elections.

Silchar (Assam): Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar has expressed hope that the Third Front would come to power after the next year`s Lok Sabha elections.
"People across the country want a substitute for both Congress and BJP as they are fed up with increasing corruption and communalism in the country," Sarkar said here at a session of the 11th Assam state-level conference of Democratic Youth Federation of India, CPI-M`s youth wing, Friday evening.

The state-level and regional parties can form an "honest and suitable alliance" to establish a non-communal, democratic and corruption-free government at the Centre on the basis of a common minimum agenda, he said.

Several coalition partners of UPA-II government like DMK and Trinamool Congress have already left the UPA government as they have realised that it will not return to power in the next polls, the CPI-M leader said.

The situation was the same for the BJP-led NDA as ally JD(U) is unhappy with BJP`s projection of Narendra Modi as the prime ministerial candidate, he said.

The Left parties, in collaboration with regional and state-level parties, would play a major role to find a viable third substitute at the Centre, he claimed.
