Bhubaneswar: Ruling BJD supremo and Orissa
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday said his party is yet to
decide on joining the proposed NDA rally against the UPA`s
`corruption`.
"Yes, Mr Sharad Yadav did telephone me about this, but
we have not yet taken any decision in the matter," Patnaik
told reporters on the proposal given to him by NDA convenor
and Janata Dal (United) president Sharad Yadav some days ago.
On the possibility of his party accepting NDA`s offer,
Patnaik said "Let us see."
Patnaik`s key advisor and Rajya Sabha MP Pyari Mohan
Mohapatra said the party would take a decision on the proposal
"at an appropriate time."
Though a member of the NDA for a decade, the BJD
severed its relationship with the BJP in Orissa on March 7,
2009, just before the last year`s general election.
Since then, Patnaik has had no relationship with
either the BJP or its leaders.
Patnaik had maintained a distance with BJP since the
riots in Kandhamal in August 2008.
Both emerged strong enemies during electioneering last
year when polls were held for both the Lok Sabha and the state
Assembly.
The BJD has since been working in tandem with Left
parties and had seat adjustments with the CPI, CPI(M) and NCP.
BJD had been opposing the UPA in Parliament and outside
on the 2G scam and CWG irregularities.
