Tata Steel Managing Director, H M Nerurkar on Tuesday said the construction work of the company`s Kalinganagar project in Orissa will start within the next two months.

Jamshedpur: Tata Steel Managing Director,
H M Nerurkar on Tuesday said the construction work of the company`s
Kalinganagar project in Orissa will start within the next two
months.

"Construction work of the Tata Steel`s six million
integrated greenfield plant at Kalinganagar will begin in next
two months," Nerurkar told company workers while unfurling the
tri-colour on the occasion of 61st Republic day function at
its premises here.

Nerurkar said that the company would start work for
its Chattisgarh and Jharkhand projects once it would acquire
the required land.

Emphasising the need for enhancing steel production in
the country, he said the demand for steel had increased by
eight to ten per cent but production was far behind the
demand.

Nerurkar said if the production was not increased, the
country would have to import steel in large volume.

Nerurkar expressed satisfaction over the progress of
the company`s ongoing 10 million tonne per annum expansion
work. It would be completed by 2011.

He expressed hope that the Dhamra Port project in
Orissa would be in operation between April to June.
