Leakage in IOC pipeline, plugged later

A leakage was found on the Haldia-Paradip oil and gas pipeline in Orissa`s Bhadrak district on Tuesday, which was later plugged, official sources said.

Haldia-Paradip oil and gas pipeline in Orissa`s Bhadrak
district on Tuesday, which was later plugged, official sources
said.

The leak on the pipeline of the Indian Oil Corporation
(IOC) was located at Jafrabad village under Saharpur
gram-panchayat under Tihidi bolck, about 170 km from here.
"The leakage was so intense that nearby agriculutral
fields were inundated by crude oil", said a senior official
adding that the experts of IOC from Paradip had meanwhile
arrested fresh leaking of oil.

Technical teams of IOC from Paradip have plugged the
leakage. But we have told them to ensure no further leakage of
anykind", Bhadrak district collector K C Patra told PTI.

Patra said the damage to crops had been minimized and
disaster averted.
The incident sparked panic among the residents with the
district administration cautioning people against cooking at
their houses untill the leakage was repaired.

The district administartion distributed cooked food
among 800 people in the village and opened a health camp to
look after any kind of health hazard due to oil leakage.
