BJD leader Housen Rabi Gandhi was on Wednesday attacked allegedly by the supporters of Korei MLA, who too belonged to the ruling party, police said.

Jajpur: BJD leader Housen Rabi Gandhi was on Wednesday attacked here allegedly by the supporters of the Korei MLA, who too belonged to the ruling party, police said.

Gandhi, also editor of `Utkal Prasang` - a monthly magazine published by the state government, sustained injuries on his face and other parts of the body while his vehicle was damaged.

Gandhi was first rushed to Area hospital at Jajpur Road and later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, police sources said.

As per the FIR filed by him with the Jajpur Road police, Gandhi was dragged out of his car and beaten up by four motorcycle-borne youths.

The attackers fled when they found some of Gandhi’s followers who had congregated at the temple and waiting for him, was about to reach the spot after hearing the scream.
