Balasore: A woman was arrested
and brown sugar valued at over Rs one crore in international
market was seized from her at Arar Bazar in Balasore town
on Friday, police said.
Acting on a tip-off, a special squad raided the house
of Sanu Bibi and seized brown sugar weighing about 1040 gram
from her possession, Superintendent of Police Rajesh Kumar
said.
The type and quantity of the contraband indicated the
link of the woman with drug smugglers in different parts
of the country as well as abroad.
Incidentally the woman and her husband had also been
arrested for possessing narcotics in past but were on bail, a
police officer said.
