Amritsar airport named after Guru Ram Dass

Amritsar airport will now be known as Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport.

New Delhi: Amritsar airport will now be known as Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport.

A decision to change the name of the airport, called Rajasansi International Airport, was taken by the Union Cabinet at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh,
today, an official spokesperson said.

Guru Ram Dass Jee was the fourth of the Ten Gurus of Sikhs and was the founder of the city of Amritsar.
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) operates and manages the airport, which is suitable for operations of large aircraft like Boeing 767s and jumbo B747s in all weather
conditions.
