Former minister Harpal Singh dead

Former minister Harpal Singh died at a government hospital after prolonged illness, party sources said.

Chandigarh: Former minister Harpal Singh
died at a government hospital here after prolonged illness,
party sources said on Friday.

Harpal, 82, died last night at PGIMER.

He is survived by two sons and a daughter. One of his son
Paramvir Singh is the Agriculture minister in Haryana cabinet.

Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has condoled the
death of Singh.

"As a minister Harpal had held many portfolios and made a
significant contribution in the development of Haryana," Hooda
said.

After partition of the country, Singh was elected as a
member of Tohana Municipal Committee and remained its vice
president for a long time.

He was elected as a member of Haryana Congress in 1965-66
and Haryana Vidhan Sabha in 1967.
