ISI is active to regenerate militancy in Punjab: DGP

Director General of Punjab Police Paramdeep Singh Gill on Sunday said that the Pakistan`s intelligence agency ISI was active to regenerate the militancy in the state by regrouping them.

Police Paramdeep Singh Gill on Sunday said that the Pakistan`s
intelligence agency ISI was active to regenerate the militancy
in the state by regrouping them.

Addressing a news conference here, he said that, "the
ISI has been providing arms and ammunition besides giving
money and drugs to militants."

"We are self equipped to defeat malicious designs of
ISI to spread unrest in the border state," he, however,
arrested.

Even though the ISI wanted to send some terrorist
through international border for creating turbulence in the
state but the Punjab police will not allow them to succeed in
their nasty designs, he said.

Punjab police will soon deploy five companies of
Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) on the lines of NSG commandos
to tackle any disturbance in the state, he said.

Meanwhile, Punjab police claimed to have busted an
inter-state seven member`s gang and arrested them for their
alleged involvement in looting of jewellery.

Gill said that on a secret tip off, police raided a
house near Sirhind Bypass and arrested all of them along with
jewellery and a pistol of .315 bore alongwith a knife.

The arrested robbers have been identified as Kashmir
Singh, Gurmit Singh, Karampreet Singh, Jagtar Singh, Bhupinder
Singh, Jatinder Kumar and Deputy Lal.

Two cars, two motorcycles were also recovered from
them.
