Punjab govt constitutes rehabilitation cell for immigrants

To facilitate rehabilitation of immigrants of Punjab origin from strife-torn Libya, the Punjab government has constituted a `Rehabilitation Cell`.

Chandigarh: To facilitate rehabilitation of
immigrants of Punjab origin from strife-torn Libya, the Punjab
government has constituted a `Rehabilitation Cell` here.

The decision to constitute the cell headed by Director
Disaster Management Bhawna Garg, was taken by Chief Minister
Parkash Singh Badal here in a meeting, an official spokesman
said.
An apex Committee comprising Financial Commissioner
(Revenue) A R Talwar, Principal Secretary (Home) D S Bains and
Principal Secretary to Chief Minister D S Guru has been
constituted under the chair of Chief Secretary S C Agrawal to
look into the policy issues involved in the rehabilitation
process.
The state government has also set up a `help desk` at
Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi under the
supervision of Resident Commissioner Punjab Bhawan, New Delhi
K Siva Parsad for extending all possible assistance to the
immigrants from Libya to enable them to reach their homes
comfortably.
