Punjab to get one more NDRF battalion

Punjab will soon get another permanent battalion of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).

Chandigarh: Punjab will soon get another permanent battalion of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).

During a meeting with Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal here today, National Disaster Management Authority vice chairman M Shashidhar Reddy assured him of stationing a full-fledged NDRF battalion in Ludhiana or Jalandhar on permanent basis, an official release said.

There is one such unit stationed in Bathinda at present.

NDRF is a specialist response, which has been in the forefront of rescue operations during all natural and man-made disasters in the country.
