Chandigarh: Organized at a glittering function held at Hotel Marriot, Zee Punjabi Anhad Sanman was the first of its own kind for Punjabi media world.

Instituted in order to honor the Punjabi martyrs and heroes who have rendered commendable services for the nation, ‘Zee Punjabi Anhad Sanman’ is a commendable initiative of Punjabi Media and such efforts should always be there to honor martyrs and heroes of the nation. This was stated by Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ms Ambika Soni, present on the occasion as a Chief Guest.
Hero of the 1971 Indo-Pak War Brigadier Kuldeep Singh Chandpuri, BSF Sepoy Shamlal and Baljinder Singh, Kuldeep Singh of Chandigarh Police were honored with Zee Punjabi Anhad Sanman for their commendable services.

Apart from them, family members of Martyr Lt. Navdeep Singh, Martyr Sq. Leader Anil Sharma and ASI Gurdial Singh of Punjab Police were also felicitated with the award.

Flying Sikh Milkha Singh was honored with Lifetime Contribution Award on the occasion for his excellence in the field of Sports.

Renowned singer Gurdas Mann, Creater of Rock Garden Nek Chand and Environmentalist Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal were also awarded for their outstanding contribution.
Welcoming the guests on occasion, Mr. Barun Das, CEO, Zee News Limited said, “This initiative was launched four years ago in Delhi by Zee News. The objective of this move was to expand this award every region of the nation through which we can honour our national heroes and make everyone aware of them. In his thanksgiving, Sanjay Vohra, Editor, Zee Punjabi, mentioned that Zee Punjabi didn’t honors our heroes rather, these heroes have honored us by marking their presence here.

The leaders from various political parties also marked their presence on the occasion leaving behind their political differences. Captain Amarinder Singh, former Chief Minister of Punjab, urged Sant Seechewal to come forward for a joint movement to control the toxicant water which is creating threat for mass cancer for the Malwa region. Present on the occasion, national Shiromani Akali Dal leader, Sardar Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa also felt the need of such events and appreciated the efforts of Zee Punjabi.

The Chandigarh Police Band added the flavor of patriotism with their various ear soothing melodies. Also present on the occasion were BJP national leader Avinash Rai Khanna, SAD National General Secretary Prof. Prem Singh Chandumajra, Congress MLAs Tej Prakash, Sunil Jakhar and others.
