Bhanwari audio clips: CBI moves court

With the surfacing of more audio clips related to Bhanwari Devi, the CBI has moved a special court to verify their authenticity.

Jodhpur: With the surfacing of more audio
clips related to missing nurse Bhanwari Devi, the CBI has
moved a special court to verify their authenticity.

The agency yesterday moved an application in the
additional chief judicial magisterial court seeking permission
to match these voices in these clips with those of accused
Shahabuddin and Sohan Lal Bishnoi, currently under judicial
custody.

The court, however, reserved the decision till tomorrow.

So far, four audio clips have surfaced pertaining to the
case claim to contain conversations of Bhanwari with Indra
Bishnoi and Sohan Lal Bishnoi and also between Shahabuddin and
his girlfriend Rehana.

The CBI is trying to find out the authenticity of these
voices, specially of Shahabuddin and Sohan Lal Bishnoi.

"In order to clear this doubt, the CBI moved an
application in the CBI court seeking permission to record
their voices in the jail and match them up with those in audio
clips," said the agency`s counsel SS Yadav.

But the counsels of Shahabuddin and Sohan Lal Bishnoi
objected to this request terming it as violation of the
Constitution and denial of the right to silence.

They also argued that the case is under investigation and
such demand cannot be made before the charge sheet in produced
in the court.
