Meena should refrain from disturbing peace in Raj: Gehlot

Jaipur: Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok
Gehlot on Friday said it was the Congress government which
registered a case against former IPS officer Madhukar Tandon
in the alleged rape of a tribal woman 12 years ago.

Criticising MP Kirori Lal Meena, he said his frequent
protests have disturbed the peace in the state.

"IPS Madhukar Tandon had committed the crime in
Shekhawat regime, the Congress not only registered the case
against Tandon but also chargesheeted and dismissed him. But
there was no action ensured during previous Raje regime where
Kirori was a minister", Gehlot said, adding, "I do not under
stand what kind of politics he (Meena) is doing now".

Gehlot also criticised Meena`s "behaviour" after his
released from the jail yesterday.

"After a day-long agitation and dharna by Kirorilal
and his supporters, he was released from Ajmer jail
unconditionally," Gehlot told reporters here.

"He is an elected representative and should not sit or
block highways and rail tracks with his supporters...there are
other ways to protest," Gehlot said.

Meanwhile, Gehlot said that Golma Devi, minister in
the state cabinet and wife of Meena, should "convince" her
husband so that there is no "disturbance" in the state.

When asked about Devi`s existence in the cabinet,
Gehlot said as of now she is a minister in the state.

On alleged remarks by Meena against Speaker Dipendra
Singh Shekhawat and cabinet minister Parsadi Lal Meena, the
Chief Minister said baseless charges should not be raised
before media by elected representatives.

Kirorilal has demanded resignation of Shekhawat,
holding his responsible for the death of a Dalit man and
arrest of Parsadilal`s son in a murder case.

Independent MLA Devi is supporting the Gehlot
government with ten other Independents unconditionally, and
over Gujjar agitation she had submitted her resignation to the
Congress President Sonia Gandhi last year, which is still in
pending.
