Apa Sherpa, who recently set a world record by climbing Mt. Everest 20 times has been named the SAARC ambassador for climate change.

Kathmandu: Apa Sherpa, who recently set a
world record by climbing Mt. Everest 20 times has been named
the SAARC ambassador for climate change in recognition of his
extraordinary contribution in raising awareness against
climate change in the Himalayas.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sujata
Koirala handed over letter of appointment as SAARC Ambassador
for Climate Change.

Talking to journalists after handing over letter of
SAARC to Apa, Koirala said that the Prime Minister Madhav
Kumar Nepal is not going to resign immediately.

The Prime Minister will not resign unless the peace
process comes to an end and the Maoist combatants are managed,
she said.

The cantonments should be vacated and the Maoists
should return the seized property before the PM could resign,
she said.
