leader and three others were shot dead by unidentified gunmen
in the restive Balochistan province of southwest Pakistan
on Friday.

Balochistan National Party leader Jumma Khan Raisani,
his bodyguard, driver and another person were gunned down in
Khuzdar city this afternoon. The gunmen escaped after the
attack.

The gunmen struck as Raisani was returning home after
offering Friday prayers. He was attacked near his residence,
police said.

Police cordoned off the area and launched a search for
the gunmen.

The killings created tension in the city.

No group claimed responsibility for the attack.

Balochistan has been wracked by sectarian and ethnic
violence over the past few years. Several nationalist groups
are waging a violent campaign demanding greater autonomy for
the province.
