Mumbai: A Bangaldeshi national, working
as an executive officer with a news channel there, has been
arrested for allegedly possessing seven live cartridges inside
the Mumbai International Airport here, police said on Friday.
The executive, whose name has not yet been revealed by
police, was inside the airport when securitymen conducted a
routine check and found seven live cartridges in his coat`s
pocket yesterday late evening, police added.
"He had a flight early in the morning to Bangladesh.
While security check was on, he was frisked by Central
Industrial Security Force when the bullets were found.
Subsequently he was handed over to us," Inspector B N Tambe at
Sahar Airport Police Station said.
He was booked under relevant sections of the Arms Act
and his luggage was seized, Tambe said adding that no further
objectional stuff found from him.
"The executive officer claimed that he had come to
Mumbai for some work and had his flight to Bangladesh in the
morning today," the officer said adding that further probe was
on.

Patna: CPI (ML) Liberation will observe a
nation-wide strike on April 27, coinciding with the bandh call
by Left parties to protest against UPA government`s "failure"
to control escalating prices and ensure food security for the
poor.
"We have decided to call a separate nation-wide general
strike on April 27 on these issues," party general secretary
Dipankar Bhattacharya told reporters here.
The working class and the poor are reeling due to
unabated rising prices of food and essential commodities and
the Congress-led UPA government failed to protect the poor
from the impact, he alleged.
Bhattacharya also castigated the Centre for its alleged
move to privatise public sector enterprises, includng banking,
telecom, insurance, transport, Railways and health.
CPI-ML, he said, would hold a farmers` rally here on May
10 to press for the just rights of peasants and sharecroppers.
