No proof against Hafiz Saeed: Former Pakistan NSA

There was "zero proof" of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) chief Hafiz Saeed`s alleged involvement in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, Pakistan`s former national security adviser Mahmud Ali Durrani said here on Saturday.

New Delhi: There was "zero proof" of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) chief Hafiz Saeed`s alleged involvement in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, Pakistan`s former national security adviser Mahmud Ali Durrani said here on Saturday.

"There is zero proof of Hafiz Saeed`s involvement," Durrani told reporters in reply to a query.

When told about Indian Home Minister P. Chidambaram`s statement in a media interview on Saturday that Pakistan had been given sufficient evidence to act against Saeed and other perpetrators of the Nov 26-29, 2008 attacks, Durrani said he disagreed with the remarks.

Durrani was here to deliver the first R.K. Mishra lecture on "India and Pakistan - Bridging the Gap", organised by the Observer Research Foundation.

He was sacked as national security adviser in January for admitting the Pakistani nationality of Ajmal Amir alias Kasab, the sole Pakistani captured alive during the Mumbai attacks, when Islamabad was in denial mode.
