Pathmanathan nabbed from SEA nation, flown to Colombo

Colombo: Selvarasa Pathmanathan, the self-
named leader of the Tamil Tigers, was nabbed by Sri Lankan
authorities from a South East Asian country and flown here for
questioning to track down the arms smuggling ring of the now
vanquished LTTE.

Pathmanathan better known as `KP` on being brought
here was taken to an undisclosed location for interrogation.
His arrest virtually snaps links of the remanants of the LTTE
with the powerful Sri Lankan Tamil diaspora.

Though Sri Lankan government spokesman Keheliya
Rambukwella did not disclose from where Pathmanathan was
picked up, a pro-Tamil website said he was arrested in Kuala
Lumpur jointly by Malaysian and Sri Lankan military
intelligence units, where he was meeting relatives of the
slain LTTE Political Head B Nadesan.

"He was arrested within the Asian region and is being
questioned in Sri Lanka," Rambukwella said.

"His existence at large created a doubt in the minds
of ordinary people that the LTTE was alive and kicking. His
arrest shows that we are capable of demolishing any future
emergence of the LTTE," he said.

Pathamnathan is also wanted by Interpol in connection
with Rajiv Gandhi`s assassination.

54-year-old Pathmanathan, who was named by slain LTTE supremo Velupillai Prabhakaran as the new head of the
International Relations of the outfit in February, named
himself as the LTTE chief after the death of Prabhakaran.
