Protests erupt in Dhaka after bus hits journalist

Police official Rezaul Karim said Nikhil Bhadra`s leg was amputated from below the ankle. Police seized the vehicle but the driver fled the scene.

Communications Minister Obaidul Quader and Information Minister Abul Kalam Azad visited the journalist at the hospital and assured him of bearing the cost of his treatment.

The government also formed a five-member committee headed by the joint secretary of the communications ministry to probe the incident.
