Karuna flays Jaya on Kudankulam issue

CM J Jayalalithaa had written to PM in September last year demanding halting of work at Kudankulam nuclear power plant in view of the protests.

Chennai: Criticising Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa for demanding allocation of entire power from the Kudankulam nuclear power plant to the state, her archrival and DMK president M Karunanidhi on Saturday said that she was adopting contradictory approach in this matter.

Referring to Jayalalithaa`s recent demand in this connection with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Karunanidhi recalled that she had written to Singh in September last year demanding halting of work at the site in view of the anti-nuclear protests.

"The state cabinet also adopted an urgent resolution and subsequently works were suspended. In that way, she was responsible for the work coming to a halt there for eight months," he said.
By demanding allocation of the entire power, she was trying to "make-up for her earlier folly," he said.
"The Chief Minister is contradicting (herself)," he said writing in party mouthpiece `Murasoli`.
