Madurai: A 45-year old man allegedly
committed suicide presuming his wife to be dead after she
swooned on being hit by him during a quarrel in a village in
the district, police said on Thursday.
Palanichamy of Velayuthampatti had hit his wife Suba (35)
in a fit of rage after an heated exchange yesterday and she
fainted, police said.
As she did not regain consciousness even after he sprinkled
water on her face, the man presumed she had died. Upset over
his act, he hanged himself to death in the house.
Subha, who woke up later, was shocked to find her husband
hanging and informed police.
