Over 3-fold hike in temple protection force pay

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa today announced a over three-fold increase on the consolidated pay offered to members of Tamil Nadu Temple Protection Force.

Considering the rise in the price of essential commodities,
the consolidated pay offered to retired army personnel,
currently employed as the Temple Protection Force, will be
increased to Rs 5,000 from Rs 1,500.Jayalalithaa has issued
orders in this regard, a government release said here.
Jayalalithaa, when her AIADMK was in power in 1992, created
the Temple Protection Force, comprising 1,000 second level
police constables and 3,000 retired army personnel, as part of
protecting the jewels, hundis and the idols kept in various
temples across Tamil Nadu, the release added.
